Use Pts/Match Avg + Prev Match when your league calculates a player's average in points per match and you want to include previous results entered manually, such as results from a season played outside CompuSport.
How is it calculated?
(Current points + previous points) ÷ (current matches + previous matches)
The previous points and previous match count must cover the same set of results. Enter the total points, not the old average. A match can contain several individual games: use the number of matches represented by those points, not the number of individual games.
Example
A player has 320 points from 10 previous matches. In the current league, they have earned 110 points over 3 matches.
| Results | Points | Matches |
|---|---|---|
| Previous results entered manually | 320 | 10 |
| Current results | 110 | 3 |
| Combined | 430 | 13 |
The combined average is 430 ÷ 13 = 33.08 points per match, displayed to two decimal places. As new results are recorded, the current totals change and the average changes with them.
Step 1 — Enter the previous results
- Go to Menu > Manage > Players/Teams > Players.
- Select the league's division.
- Use the grid's column controls to display the fields for Scores from other season (all or div if you need to so this for more than one league) and Played weeks from other season (All or Div)
- Enter the player's total previous points in the Scores from other season field.
- Enter the matching number of previous matches in the Played weeks from other season
- Save your changes and repeat for the other players.
For the example above, enter 320 previous points and 10 previous matches. Enter these values for the correct division, especially when a player participates in more than one league.
Step 2 — Use the average on the scoresheet
- Go to Menu > Manage > Brackets/Round-Robins > Round-Robins.
- Select your league's Round-Robin and click the Pencil to edit it.
- Open the Score Input section and locate the Handicap settings.
- For Field to show in handicap on score sheet, select Pts/Match Avg + Prev Match.
- Review the minimum-night requirement and any fallback field or default value. These settings can cause another value to be used before a player qualifies for the selected average.
- Set Handicap decimal count for each player to the number of decimal places your league uses. For example, enter 2 to display 33.08.
- Check that the team-handicap calculation method matches your league rules, then save.
