FAQ – Impact of a Perfect Game (ERO) on CSR Calculation

? What is an ERO (Eight Run Out)?

An ERO (Eight Run Out) is a perfect game where a player wins without giving a turn to their opponent.

Shape

? Why is it important to mark a game as ERO?

Marking a game as an ERO allows the system to better reflect the exceptional performance of the winner.

Without this information, the CSR calculation only considers the rating difference between players.
With an ERO, the system adjusts the calculation to properly reward this performance.

Shape

? What is the impact on the winning player?

Let’s take an example:

  • Player A: 1600 CSR

  • Player B: 1500 CSR

? Regular game:

  • Winner’s gain: +1.8 CSR

? ERO game:

  • The system simulates the opponent as having a CSR of 1800

  • New gain: +4.0 CSR

Result: the winner receives a higher CSR gain because the performance is considered exceptional.

Shape

? What is the impact on the losing player?

? Regular game:

  • Loss-1.8 CSR

? ERO game:

  • The system simulates the winner as having a CSR of 1800

  • New loss-0.7 CSR

Result: the loss is reduced, since losing against a perfect performance is less penalizing.

 Important – Do not forget

? The losing player ALWAYS benefits from marking a game as ERO in the mobile app.

  • It directly reduces the CSR loss

  • Not marking an ERO results in a larger loss than necessary

? On the other hand, a winner might be tempted not to declare an ERO in order to limit their CSR gain and maintain a lower rating.

Shape

? Why use a simulated CSR of 1800?

The 1800 CSR threshold is used as a reference to represent a very high-level performance.

This allows the system to:

  • strongly reward a perfect game

  • protect the losing player from excessive penalties

Shape

? What happens if a player already has more than 1800 CSR?

In that case:

? The system uses the player’s actual CSR, even if it is higher than 1800.

✔️ Example:

  • If a player has 1850 CSR, the calculation will use 1850 (not 1800)

  • This applies to both the winner and the loser
